It doesn't matter if you think we should be at war with Iran or not. The US constitution is very clear when it states acts of war must be approved by congress. Article 1, Section 8.
They have not approved this war.
You can think the rule is stupid, or that it should be changed. Thats a different argument. But so long as that rule is in place, it should be followed. Some of us actually value what the constitution has to say.

@trails_dave IF the planet keeps getting warmer through global weather patterns, and the rain dries up, and the rivers stop flowing, then yes. The lake will go dry. But we are speeding it up by 1000s of years. Thats a problem.

But I do think its a stupid solution to a stupid problem. We could fix our water situation using far more effective and less controversial methods.

Thanks for reply. You aren't wrong here. On anything really. Im not arguing to make SLC like vegas. Im using it as an example to prove the "people use all our water" is crap. The thing is, Vegas is in the middle of one of the hottest deserts on earth. Its next to death valley. I personally don't think we should try to artificially keep 3 million people comfortable in such a hostile environment. If they want to live in such a hot hostile place, they should expect a hot hostile low quality of life. So I don't think there should be big public green spaces lowering the temp.
Now, I could support large indoor green spaces that are water efficient/AC. but outdoors? you are fighting god.

I am also a supporter in the free market. The law of supply and demand says if there is something everybody wants, but theres not enough to go around, the price of that thing should be high. Pretending like theres infinite water and using socialism-like policies to keep prices low got us into this mess. The price should go up for the heavy users.

With that being said, the point I was really trying to make here is that cities themselves (people) can be incredibly water efficient. But we dont NEED to be. At least not in utah. Even if all our cities were as "efficient" as vegas, it still wouldnt be enough. 80%+ of our water goes to farms, and we arent going to fix any of our problems until that is addressed. 68% of utah's entire water supply, goes to a crop worth 0.2% of the economy. Trying to pin the blame on people is a diversion tactic to avoid asking hard questions of farms. If we cut alfalfa by half, we could turn St george into a rainforest and still probably use less water.

lets keep our cities green (unlike vegas), make some hard cuts to crops that are hard to justify, and stop pinning blame on humans who are remarkably efficient with water recycling and such.

@thisis2112 @grok how much would it cost in electricity to pump a single gallon salt water up 4400 ft. How many gallons per year does the great salt lake need? Extrapolate cost annually in power at industrial power rates to keep the lake filled by doing this.

@MorrisBubba @GovCox @grok explain to this individual what the Bonneville floods were. Did lake Bonneville primarily evaporate, or did the lake breach an ice wall as the glaciers melted causing catastrophic floods. Cite sources for their research.
