The @VTSciFest is still inspiring kids during the COVID-19 pandemic. It is taking place on multiple days throughout the Fall.
On October 6th, we partnered with @OrionScienceLLC and sponsored two booths: one for lava lamps and one for magnetic slime. ๐
Kristy Collins, our director of education and outreach, and @OrionScienceLLC assisted children attending the @VTSciFest in making groovy lava lamps ๐ and super sticky magnetic slime โก๏ธ.
It looks like fun was had by all!

Look out on September 5th for a spectacular trip through nature! The Orion Living Learning Community is holding a hike through the beautiful Cascades Waterfall area. We do have a back up plan in case it rains for September 6th! Transportation will be provided! Be sure to RSVP!
On Sunday, August 29th, the Orion Living Learning Community held their Welcome Back Extravaganza event! The event featured a Scavenger Hunt where students of all years worked in groups to find certain campus spots and complete funky tasks to win points for their floor!
Next Friday, April 30th, our own Adriene (and Benji!), will be hosting a virtual yoga practice for our community via Zoom. As finals week is fast approaching, this is a great opportunity for students to unwind with a relaxing workout. We hope to see our community members there!
On Friday, April 23rd, the Orion Living Learning Community will be holding a ZOOM-Ba event. This event brings students of the community together virtually to do Zumba dance workouts. Since finals are approaching, this event will give students the opportunity to relax!
Next Friday, April 23rd, Orion will be be hosting an Elevator Pitch workshop from 4-5 PM. Having an elevator pitch rehearsed is critical when looking for job opportunities, and this is a great chance for students to practice presenting to potential employers!
On Thursday, April 15th, the Orion Living Learning Community will hold an event centered around the importance of research and how to get involved. COVID-19 has left many students wanting to be involved in research, but wondering where to start. This event looks to help!

Last Friday, April 2nd, Orion hosted a Facul-Tea with Dr. Richard Helm, a professor from Virginia Techโs Department of Biochemistry. Helm is head of the VT Spectrometry Incubator and an associate professor who currently teaches General Biochemistry. We are so grateful!
On Thursday, April 1st from 4:30-5:30, the Orion Living Learning Community will hold a virtual yoga session for students. This event will allow students to relax and refresh their minds as we head to the busiest portion of the semester.

On Saturday, March 13th, the Orion Living Learning Community held its annual leadership retreat for rising leaders, including Dr. Kim Carlson and her team as guest speakers. his experience allowed students to learn more about how Orion came to exist, and about their future roles.
Next Thursday, March 18th, Orion will be hosting a Pre-Med, Pre-Vet mixer featuring Orion alumni. These alumni are here to answer any questions that students considering these fields may have. If you want to learn about the graduate school application process, be sure to come!
Orionโs commitment to safety and health throughout the semester wonโt get in the way of us having fun! Our Event Planning team has done an excellent job of getting creative to plan safe, socially- distanced events this semester. Tonight, Orion is excited to have a game night!
On Friday, February 26th, the Orion Living Learning Community held a โZOOM-Baโ event. This event allowed students to gather with their peers safely to dance away the first exam rotation stress. Thank you Maddy and Madka, for hosting this event!
On Saturday, March 6th, Orion will be hosting Online with Orion, where students can come and learn more about our Living Learning Community. Community members will talk and answer questions about Orion such! Anyone interested should sign up by March 5th. We hope to see you there!
