Retired IT Company Director who enjoys cooking, fine wines, bird watching, cycling, walking, more fine wines, & retrieving socks from his Norwegian Forest Cat!
@eurosport Whilst applauding Marco Odermatt on his great achievement, it should be noted that Eurosport’s own on site ski commentator, the great Tina Maze, was the first skier to break Herman Maier’s 2000 point record Slovenian skier back in 2013, taking the new points benchmark to 2,414.
@carltonkirby A Merry and Blessed Christmas to you and your family Carlton. Thank you for your professional commentary, your insights, your humour, and your contribution to the sport of cycling. You are a true Ambassador. May 2023 bring everything that you hope for.
@amcarmichaelMP Just wondering, given the current state of British politics, whether it might be expedient for the British Government to secure the services of a good Temp agency to handle the appointment and employment of Ministers of State in the future. :-)
@TourDeJose Thank you very much for your commentary in the Tour of Langkawi. Really enjoyable and informative. I look forward to hearing you call more races when the next road season commences. Thanks also to your wing man Brian Smith. You both made a good commentary team IMHO.
@carltonkirby It was said at the Atlanta Olympics that the orange line on the road (which apparently marked the best short line for the marathon runners), was in reality the skid mark left on the road by the “Whatisit’s” backside when it was run out of town! 😂😂😂.
@TourDeJose Enjoying my breakfast watching the Tour de Langkawi with you and Brian Smith. 👍 Nice to have the opportunity to see the Asian riders in action.
@carltonkirby Noted that the cameraman that closely photographed Wilco Kelderman whilst he was on the side of the road was wearing his face mask around his neck rather than on his face! With Covid protocols in place, I was a little surprised to see that.
@carltonkirby Catching up with the Tour de L’avenir stage 8, with commentary from Jose Been. Unconsciously, at one point she produced a Kirbyism worthy of your good self:- “It’s no good having the genes if you haven’t got the legs.” Referring to U 23 rider with cycling father.
@carltonkirby There is tangible excitement that is rising as fast as the road rose, as we all await the result of today’s KOM “mano a mano” sprint, with bated breath. 😁
@SportsOrla Were you all not briefed as to the actual reason for the visit to the church? It was made clear straight away by Carlton Kirby that candles were lit in recognition for all those who died of Covid in the world. It was NOT bringing religion into cycling as was implied.
@JezCox@BriSmithy Orkney certainly is a beautiful pace Jez. This is the view from our pier across Stromness Harbour. As part of a group of Islands Orkney is a great place to explore on the bike using the interconnected ferry services. Sometimes the wind (and the rain!) can be a little challenging!
@JezCox@BriSmithy Thank you both for your excellent commentary and insights on the wonderful Arctic Tour of Norway race it has been much appreciated. I live in Orkney which has strong ties to Norway, and it is my favourite destination. I hope Jez, that you get there soon.
@JezCox Common Crane Image. my wife and I have seen these wonderful birds in Norway and in Sweden. In the summer they form breeding pairs and tend to fly in pairs.
@DrDoomish@Dani_Christmas@lukascph Thank you for letting me know. I will certainly look them up. I live in the Orkney Islands which has strong links with Scandinavia and particularly Norway. I actually speak passable Norwegian and spend leisure time there. Orkney’s only international flight, Kirkwall - Bergen! 😁
@DrDoomish@Dani_Christmas@lukascph Thank you for that. Goodness, I had no idea that they were available outside of Denmark. I used to eat them when holidaying in Denmark. I like mine in a roll with cucumber, crispy onion, a dill mustard mayonnaise, and side issue of pickled gherkins. Jeg elsker rød pølse!
