I teach vertebrate/human anatomy and research feeding. I play games and watch hockey. I take photos of birds and planes. He/him/his

@TheBrattPack63 Amazing how many Rangers fans hate you but take time out of their day to follow your tweets and respond with playground level "nuh uh" and things like "we're in the playoffs, what are you doing?" I dunno, going to work, not living vicariously through athletes. Stuff. It's so odd.
@Irishfan791@NJCHICO @StapeAthletic MacDermid was looking for Rempe, there wouldn't have even been a fight if the scoring line started. You really know your hockey too apparently.
Dr. Ian, a Paleontology industry expert, visited students at Green Valley today! The students have been embarking on a journey called "Dinovember," where they have been uncovering information about dinosaurs and paleontology in preparation for Dr. Ian's visit!
@AndyFarke@DALevering As much as I love when they question themselves about grad school, I am wary of creating more field scientists in this current world also and we have very frank conversations about jobs open to advanced degree holders.
@AndyFarke@DALevering Same with taking students out for a class. I lobe it when they fall in love with fieldwork, but I'm not trying to convince them to give up on medical school or anything, just to have an appreciation for field sciences.
Of course not everyone has spare cash to buy a new book, but the free ABA region apps will update the names and you can write them into your old guides if you donโt want to buy a new book? My OG Sibley has had new names scrawled all over it for years
@skwinnicki A sharpie and some white out is far cheaper than a new guide, if it hurts their feelings that much. But also, does anyone carry a guide on the trail anymore? I've got a few on my phone...
I realized at lunch today that between the regional SICB two weeks ago, the virtual SVP meeting last weekend and the education conference I'm at this weekend I've attended 3 conferences in 3 weeks.
@skwinnicki I had a similar experience once with a small warbler. Despite photos I kept being told I was wrong and that my list was going to be edited if I didn't change the ID.
And we're on our way to help dig out some dinosaurs ๐ฆ! Very excited to have such a good class of young paleontologists/biologists going out with us. And that includes 3 students working in the lab next fall.
@BrianEngh_Art How dare you... present a logical argument that is very intriguing. In my (not good) drawing history I always gave dinosaurs some cheek flap. Maybe I'm a heretic though.
@JurassicSouls I like it more than any of the new ones even though a lot of people hate it. It also gave me hope that more feathered dinosaurs would pop up in future movies...
