It is the responsibility of residents to follow burning conditions outlined on the NB Forest Fire Watch website, which is updated at 2 p.m. daily.

Please be advised that the 2024 forest fire season is now underway! The Department of Natural Resources & Energy Development requires that towns follow any burn bans set by DNRED. This includes residents who own an Outdoor Firepit Permit.

Due to recent Local Governance Reform implemented by GNB, the area of “forest land” within the jurisdiction of newly formed towns has increased.

**2023 Flood Update | #2**
Please note that roadblocks have been placed on Route 105 between Blue Bird Lane and McGowans Corner. Vehicle passes for residents in the area are being issued to allow access to the area. Passes can be obtained at the Burton Bridge Command Centre.

With water levels coming up, please be advised that the Oromocto Fire Department will be in the Maugerville/Sheffield area tonight, April 18th, to hand out some flood information sheets to residents. Emergency vehicles will be present in the area, this is not cause for concern.

Hwy 2 is closed at Exit 303 due to an accident. Crews are working to remove vehicles involved. Traffic being rerouted to Restigouche Road. Avoid Gateway/Restigouche Rd area if possible. @TrafficNB

There are currently disruptions with the 911 system in New Brunswick. Connection to 911 may be impacted. In case of emergency, residents of the Oromocto and surrounding area are asked to please call the Oromocto Fire Department, Station 1 at [phone].

Due to an earlier accident the westbound on-ramp to Hwy 2 at mile-marker 303 will be closed to traffic for the next several hours. Traffic travelling on Hwy 2 is unaffected @TrafficNB

The Oromocto FD will be conducting training which will include the burning of the old VIC located at 311 Restigouche Road tonight.
If you notice emergency vehicles, as well as signs of fire, note that this is not cause for concern and emergency services do not need to be notified
