Yesterday, I warmly received in my office, the Director General of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), Brigadier General Yushau Dogara Ahmed who was on a visit to review the operation of the service in Osun state.

I was particularly delighted to hear that Brigadier General Yusuf once served as a Corp member in Osun state during his NYSC days while listening to the testimony of his stay in Osun state with great excitement.

In my remark at the event, I called for an immediate reform of the NYSC scheme to effect an institutionalized Public - Private Partnership in the management of the service to reduce the burden of financing on the public sector.

𝗪𝗲 𝗔𝗿𝗲 𝗙𝗼𝗰𝘂𝘀𝗲𝗱 𝗢𝗻 𝗘𝗻𝘀𝘂𝗿𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗙𝗼𝗼𝗱 𝗦𝘂𝗳𝗳𝗶𝗰𝗶𝗲𝗻𝗰𝘆

As a follow up to the emergency meeting held with the President and my colleague Governors yesterday on the state of the Nation, I had a meeting with my good friend and former colleague from the 8th Senate, Senator Abubakar Kyari, who currently serves as the Minister of Agriculture.

I highlighted steps our administration is embarking on to ensure increase in food productivity in the state beginning with our plan to set up a state security trust fund to mobilize financing for security agencies majorly from the private sector, with a view to ensuring safety of our farmers and agricultural produce.

We explored common area of interests and deliberated on ways the Federal Government can collaborate with Osun State to advance our agricultural initiatives, aiming to establish a sustainable food program and eliminate hunger.

I also solicited for support of the federal government through the Ministry of Agriculture on our livestock development programme and Agro-processing zones project currently being worked on in collaboration with AFDB.

I appreciate the support of the Honorable Minister by recognizing our effort as key in solving the current National Economic Challenges and ensuring food sufficiency to the people of Osun State and Nigeria.
