Thought this was awesome today from Grant McCasland, talking about building a roster and the “business” aspect of college athletics.
“There’s plenty of people that want to make it a business… but when we get in that locker room, we want it to be about us together, us winning because of each other… So we leaned into — how do we get people that really want that?”
David said in Psalm 23, “Surely, goodness and mercy will follow me all the days of my life.” He was saying, “I am confident that good things are coming. I am confident that this situation is turning around.” It’s very powerful when you add the surely to what you’re believing for.
Basketball has a lying problem. Everybody says they want to win. Until winning means fewer shots, harder defense, a smaller role, passing up good for great, and cheering when you thought you’d play more. Everybody wants the trophy. Few want the truth it takes to earn it.
