"I'm trying the potato diet"
- boring
- you get called a couch potato
- people expect you to become sickly, concerned for your health
"I am participating in the great nightshade feast"

- intimidating
- your friends will be concerned for your health AND sanity
Had an intake appointment today for Official Neuropsychiatric ADHD Diagnosis. I:

@tscottphillips@nataliepeluso We probably recalibrate this over time as well. Ever had situations which were awful in the moment, but you can laugh at in retrospect? Time may have shown that it wasn't such a bad event after all. But the worst day of your life is likely to remain just as unfunny decades later
@tscottphillips@nataliepeluso Guess: Because humorous prediction errors are (usually) not grave situations. If a cartoon character slips on a banana peel, you laugh. If a real person take a nasty spill, maybe not so much.
Compare laughing w/ someone vs laughing at them. For the receiver, one's fun, one isn't
Kentaro Miura, creator of the manga Berserk, just passed away at 54. I'm heartbroken.
Berserk is a poignant story of grief, love, and perseverance through adversity. It means a lot to me, so I wanted to share a few of my favorite panels in tribute.
Rest easy, Miura san
Going to teach my kids:

2. Who Tony Hawk is

@Stray5k@PsychoSchmitt The assumption I'm making is that increasing strength will causally influence these personality metrics. I haven't yet seen causal data on that, hence the '?' at the end of my original tweet. But it's possible. Personalities are strategies, & brains change strategies on the fly.
@Stray5k@PsychoSchmitt Grip strength is a proxy measure; it's well-correlated with (upper) body strength & muscle mass. Researchers use it because it's easier than having volunteers perform full-body strength assessments, & besides some groups (ie rock climbers) people tend not to train it directly.
