whenever i see a video of him in a crowd like this it immediately makes sense to me why all the celebs they work with say he's their bias. the aura this man has is magnetic.

7 things I had forgotten about ARIRANG from Bang Sihyuk’s BB interview:
1. The album began with a theoritical question about BTS’s musical identity:
They asked what would BTS’ sound would be like if the group that made 2 Cool 4 Skool had retained its fundamental identity for 13 years, without all the subsequent genre expansion
2. BTS 2.0 was conceived as a return to roots, not simply a new era:
They didn’t want to keep their image as a boyband, but to return to the musical foundations from which they began. They wanted to move beyond the boyband label which carries entrenched biases & more firmly establish BTS as artists, without dissolving into 7 solo careers
3. Arirang ultimately became the album’s compass:
It looks back across BTS’s 13-year journey & points forward toward the era of “A Love Beyond,” imagined as love crossing borders & generations
—hmmm I wonder if we will hear more music from this “A Love Beyond” era
4. Beginning the CB in Korea was an intentional statement:
Several major cities proposed hosting BTS’s first comeback performance, but they began their return in Korea as they began there
—hmmm I wonder what were the alternative cities
5. The Gwanghwamun staging was conceived as a meeting of historical & contemporary Korea:
Gwanghwamun was seen as a portal connecting past & present
6. The album’s 2 halves were designed around a tension between icon & human being:
The opening announces something like the return of a king. The latter half turns inward, towards the emotions & struggles of young people living under the weight of that crown
7. Even the acoustic behaviour of the bell carries the album’s argument about time:
맥놀이 is an acoustics term, literally meaning “beating.” The bell’s resonance seems to fade but never entirely disappears, like a cycle. This represents the hope that BTS’s music will continue to reverberate over time
Put together, ARIRANG asks how BTS can return to its origins without going backwards, remain a group without being confined by the boyband category & carry 13 years of history into whatever BTS becomes next
