Education worker for 47 years.
Union involved for all of them.
Retired from the classroom for 10 years.
OTBU President for 12 years +?
opinions my own.
@osstf So disappointed in the union I could hardly wait to join way back in the day. Binding arbitration is not the gift these folks are trying to make you believe. You have no voice in it. Risky business. What strips will come? My vote is NO!
@osstf Not in support of arbitration. I stand for a negotiated collective agreement, both centrally and locally. I have been a union activist for 50 years and table team for 15 years CUPE, 34 years OSSTF. Arbitration has many pitfalls and rarely yields the desire result!
@ColinDMello Strike action is a constitutional right. Never apologize for striving to make the best deal possible for your families.
We don’t need to be a “team player” and struggle.
Never mind what the public opinion might be. No one is asking the autoworkers about public support.
“We’ve had enough. We should be looking at education as an investment & making sure that students have all of the supports they need going into the school year.”
#OSSTF Pres. @karenosstf calls on govt to come to the bargaining table w/ a fair deal! #OntEd

@HPhysicsteacher@osstf You can also throw a glass of water out the window and get as much a result for a fair deal. After 48 years as an educator and how many sets of contract negotiations later, you have to show them where the bear is in the buck wheat! Experience is speaking.
@osstf Manifest a crisis...hmm, sounds like the Mike Harris playbool with John Snowbelen as Minister of Ed. Also remember days of political protest and act of civil disobedience. Perhaps it's time to do it all again.
@OSSTFD23ESS_ECE On behalf of District 23 OSSTF, thank you to all Education Support Staff workers who work in the Brant- Haldimand- Norkfolk Catholic District School Board and the Grand Erie District School Board.
@Sflecce “Merit” - like how @fordnation nephew Mikey got his job as Minister of Citizenship and Multiculturalism? We all know it was #nepotism and NOT because of his *ahem* highschool diploma! 🤷🏻♀️
Same thing for teachers - you’re only enabling principals hiring friends & family!

Education workers are the backbone of schools. ECEs, EAs, custodians, clerical staff, library staff and more, ensure safe and excellent learning environments for kids.
They deserve better. Our communities deserve better.

@Sflecce The correct response to your bullying techniques is a massive provincial strike of all education and health care workers for as long as it takes.
@munakadri Amazing how Ford always manages to blame Teachers and teacher unions even when they are not involved. Ramp up the rhetoric and lie. Enough with your veiled threats DoFo!
@Ward3Toronto@Sflecce He’s started this conversation so I say we continue it.
I’ve been visiting schools & I have many colleagues keen on volunteering their time to run extracurriculars but funding is making that difficult.
If he’s committed to them, he needs to start flowing funding.
Hi @Sflecce, lots of talk from you about extracurriculars so I thought I’d help with advice from the actual people who run those programs.
School boards need funding for Occasional Teachers so coaches can go to events with teams.
