The main thing that changes is who makes up the ruling class and how many others have access to wealth and opportunity.

98% live in shared misery, dependent on the government. Meanwhile, the entitled party leaders who lack the skills and work ethic to succeed in any merit-based system then live like kings with different rules.

That's what the entire ideology is all about. They want to use the masses (by telling them that the current system is screwing them) to gain power and then oppress the very same masses to work for them.

And once the masses realize what it was really about, they start to object. But by then the Communists have power and use it brutally to maintain control. Which is why it always ends up with mass murder and serious restrictions on freedoms. DSA is just a wannabe step toward that.
