Juneteenth commemorates June 19, 1865 when Gordon Granger led soldiers to Galveston, Texas to share General Order Number 3, which freed more than 250,000 enslaved Black people. This was 2 months after the Civil War ended and 2 YEARS after the Emancipation Proclamation. (2/5)
