2/2 For centuries, Nuu-chah-nulth people depended on the whale hunt, and many traditional stories tell of serpents dropped from the sky by the supernatural Thunderbird to stun the whales before attack.
1/2 In the early 1970s, the Nuu-chah-nulth artist, printmaker and wood carver ḥ aa’yuups, also known as Ron Hamilton, created Serpent and orca, a print now part of the House of Commons Heritage Collection.
