@OleTimeHardball Ernie Banks and Lou Boudreau comes to mind. Ernie was a home run hitting beast for the Cubs when he 1st got to the majors and Lou was a player manager for the Indians while getting them to the 1948 world series, hitting .355 and only 9 strikeouts for the season.
