System Of A Down Honors Armenian Genocide Victims With Prayer At Sick New World In Las Vegas 🇦🇲

System of a Down paused mid-set to honor the 1.5 million Armenians killed during the Armenian Genocide in 1915, alongside the Greek and Assyrian victims of the same Ottoman campaign, during their performance at the Sick New World Festival at the Las Vegas Festival Grounds on April 25, 2026.

"Millions of Armenians, Greeks, and Assyrians were massacred during World War One by the Ottoman Turks. This prayer is to honor those that have left us and also those who survived. The problem is that genocide still occurs today around the world. We have not learned the lesson of people over profits. It's time. It's time to relieve ourselves of these idiotic fucking leaders around the world," said System of a Down frontman Serj Tankian.

Tankian then led the crowd in “Der Voghormia,” the Armenian Apostolic prayer for mercy, before the band launched into Holy Mountains, their 2005 song confronting the Armenian Genocide and its denial.

The moment came two years after bandmate Daron Malakian used the same festival stage in 2024 to ask where the outrage was when the babies of Artsakh were crying. From the same band, on the same ground, the message lands again: remembrance and accountability, spoken into a crowd of tens of thousands two days before Armenian Genocide Remembrance Day.
