Western North Carolina deserves leadership that puts people first, not donors. We deserve real solutions: Medicare for All, affordable housing, strong public services, and representatives who are accountable to the people they serve, not the wealthiest interests in Washington.
I take Jamie at his word that he wants what’s best for Western North Carolina. But intentions and impact are not the same. A throwback “Blue Dog” approach — especially one funded by billionaires, hedge fund managers, and PACs — isn’t change. It’s more of the same.
In a recent interview with The New York Times, one of my opponents, Jamie Ager, described himself as a “Blue Dog Democrat.” If that term sounds familiar, it should. Blue Dogs were the faction of Democrats who played a key role in watering down the Affordable Care Act.
From working with Mother Teresa in India to treating the sick in the mountains of NC, Dr. Richard Hudspeth has a lifetime of serving those in need. Let’s send him to Congress where he’ll work for all Western North Carolinians.
