Transport fares are set to increase by 8% from Saturday, September 26, following an agreement between the leadership of the Ghana Private Road Transport Union (GPRTU), other transport unions and the government.

The transport operators had initially proposed a 25% increase, citing rising costs of fuel, spare parts, insurance premiums, DVLA charges, lubricants and engine oil, but the parties settled on an 8% adjustment after deliberations.
