@a2_qkumba Throughout the day, participants continue to tinker and many things were worked on. There was extensive SMD capacitor replacement. Monitors were inspected. A Rev 0 was successfully tested. The clear case //e was completed.

Day four opened with remote presentations on UltimateDrive and @callapple recent activities.
After lunch we caught up with compatriots Ian Brumby who introduced us to his CrossRunner Apple IIgs emulator.

@a2_qkumba Over dinner we had a fireside chat about our computing origins and our first Apple exposure. There were lots of common themes including ease of learning to program, communication with modems to interact with kindred spirits and parents who provided a resource at a formative age.

After a fabulous Thai dinner we returned to tinker and Jon Co (Manila Gear) demonstrated how to replace surface mounted capacitors on Mac //e, Video Overlay and Apple II Ethernet cards. All had leaking electrolytics and now have tantalums.

Jeremy Barr-Hyde was next up with a very informative session sharing with us all the things he wished somebody had told him earlier based on his extensive experience with retro repairs.

He continued with a session on cleaning 5.25” disks and the tips and traps he has encountered.

Day 3: Two more arrivals today brought the total number of attendees to 12.
We started formal sessions after lunch and heard from @WOzFestHQ who gave us an update on the Solid State of the nation with special mention of BlueSCSI & upcoming UltimateDrive since the last OzKfest.

@JediGriffo Jason gave us a brief update on his GriffsPlace project which will be a sweet pinball, retro display and other entertainment venue in outer Melbourne.

Alex Lukacz (Lukazi’s Loot) was next up with an in depth look at how to generate VGA video for the //c and //e using Pi Pico with particular focus on colour models.

@the_jongleur Michael Mulhern generously sponsored Sodderfest which enabled each participant to build a Newprint/Multi printer emulator kit. This was a great opportunity to for inexperienced sodderers to have a go. Thank you very much Michael! 3:3

Day two: some organised sessions and activity.
During the official welcome, Adrian our host talked a little about the Australian Computer Museum Society and what the vision is for collaboration with groups such as ours - educating the next generation to pass on the passion. 1/3

Adrian also talked briefly about some soldering and desoldering equipment that was on-site for us to use and how to look after it and use it properly. Despite the warnings we had one magic smoke release and a power trip incident. Very exciting! 2/3

Tomorrow we have a few introductory sessions and the Sodderfest proudly sponsored by Michael Mulhern during which we will have the opportunity to make the Newprint/Multi kit - which is a printer emulator that connects to a parallel card.
