Presumably BBC will be asked to explain which of its guidelines were broken and why other regular presenters, contributors, comedians, actors who tweet political views are not in breach. Hard to see Lineker coming back now.
I wonder whether the BBC has created a situation where anyone prepared to present MOTD tomorrow immediately becomes a de facto supporter of legislation currently being cheered to the rafters by overtly racist, far right leaders across the rest of Europe…
It's a good time to remember that the Chairman of the BBC is Richard Sharp, someone who's donated £400,000+ to the Conservatives and helped Boris Johnson with an £800,000 loan.
Let's remember that when they talk about BBC "impartiality".
In 2011, Jeremy Clarkson called for striking workers to be "shot in front of their families". He continued to present Top Gear for another four years.
After criticising plans to criminalise asylum seekers, Gary Linekar has lasted three days.
Gary Lineker forced to withdraw from his job because of claims of impartiality over his views on the government's asylum system
BBC chairman Richard Sharp has continued in his job after his role in helping to land Boris Johnson an £800,000 loan
How to be impartial at the BBC:
NOT IMPARTIAL
❌Gary Lineker criticising the Government
❌David Attenborough condemning environmental destruction
IMPARTIAL
✅Andrew Neil sharing hard-right views on Brexit and climate change
✅Alan Sugar telling people to vote for Boris Johnson

Rishi Sunak in genius mode… explaining why having full access to UK home market and EU Single Market is so prized by investors.
Could even explain why UK’s massive internal investment dropped when Brexit pulled England, Scotland and Wales out of exactly that enviable position.
Rishi Sunak tells #PMConnect that NI is “world’s most exciting economic zone" b/c of access to both GB and EU markets. Earlier he said this "very special position" makes it "incredibly attractive" place to invest. This is, of course, the status *whole* UK had before Brexit 🤔
Northern Ireland now has access to the UK and EU markets, making it an incredibly attractive place to invest.
Never before has any part of the UK had this sort of opportunity!
All thanks to Brexit.
