AI makes learning faster, but is it making thinking harder? How is #AI impacting #education and what can we do about it, including our experience in using a policy on use of AI at @ShivNadarUniv. My article @htTweets

Excited to deliver a keynote at the LEO Economics Conference 2026 @PlakshaUniv (Apr 24–26) organized by @prakarsh9. My talk is based on joint work with @AakashDev_Econ: "Households, Frictions, and the Gender Gap: A Search Model of Labor Force Participation in India." Paper:
Result: Women's equilibrium reservation wages substantially exceed men's in ALL household states. This is the structural mechanism behind the gender participation gap.
The recently concluded trade treaty between India and the EU is important from an economic and geopolitical point of view. Why? This is what I had written about four months ago in @FinancialXpress - it gives hope.

In this podcast with @pujamehra we discuss the performance of the #IndianEconomy. High Advanced Estimates of GDP and low inflation - the RBI Governor calls it Goldilocks Moment. But there is no room for complacency. What lies behind these numbers? We discuss that in the podcast.
India’s headline growth numbers may look strong, but weak prices and stagnant incomes tell a different story. The stress is clearest in agriculture, where crop prices are not just stagnating but falling below MSPs, economist @p_chatterjee (@ShivNadarUni) tells @pujamehra.
"Agriculture supports about 45% of the population. If the income of that population falls, then it will have repercussions throughout the economy."
'@p_chatterjee (@ShivNadarUniv) & NCAER faculty @aakash_dev94 gave a talk on their paper titled 'Low Labor Force Participation Rate: Macroeconomic and Household Factors in a Search Model' at the Centre for Development Economics, Delhi School of Economics on Thu, 7 Nov 2024.
In this paper, Chatterjee & Dev set up a computable macro job search model in the context of emerging economies, particularly India. They explore the role of macroeconomic factors and time use dynamics in explaining low labour force participation.
@p_chatterjee@ShivNadarUniv Thanks for inviting me Partha Sir. Enjoyed both the interaction and flow of questions at the session and of course your very beautiful campus.

Elevated uncertainty and risk, particularly for MSMEs, is one of the features of the current economy. Something that I had highlighted in my pre-budget article in Mint online. I suggested the creation of an investment fund that can take an equity position and help share risk.
