I used to genuinely respect Mark Goldbridge.
One of the few non-Arsenal voices I really respected because regardless of the team, he called it how it was. If Arsenal were good, he said it. If we were poor, he said that too. No agendas, no forced narratives. Just honest football takes, which is rare these days.
That’s why this shift has been so disappointing.
Ever since selling out to Gary Neville’s media circle, it feels different. The takes don’t hit the same. Feels more like playing to the crowd than speaking on the game. The edge that made him stand out is fading into the same noise everyone else is pushing.
Another one who used to keep it real, now just part of the rage bait brigade. We lost a real one.
Myles Lewis-Skelly was 11 the first time an agent called his mother about him. The agent was moving quickly as he'd identified his quality. MLS was way too young to be snooped around. His mother didn't like that. She said she didn't know anything about football at the time but knew wrong from right.
At 12, a sports brand approached his parents asking to sponsor MLS. His mother said it felt too soon, and she didn't know enough to make important decisions. Her son was sought after and she was just being a mother who stood there with him.
MLS’ parents didn't know much, and they reached other parents who've had bright footballers like their son, and they got some advice. That was how Marcia studied for a Master’s degree in football business. She wanted to know the business too.
After that, she sat for FIFA’s football agent exam. She said she did it to know more about how it runs. Her thesis for her Master’s was on parents’ experience in youth football.
She started a podcast where she invited parents of footballers to talk about raising footballers and supporting them through the journey. She had Alex Iwobi’s dad on the podcast. Emile Smith-Rowe’s dad has been on it too. After that, she opened a website to provide 1-to-1 support for parents of aspiring footballers.
I'm sure she's busier these days as she has to be with her son through those journeys. It's never easy for parents of footballers. It's why when I congratulate those who break through, I congratulate their families too because I understand the sacrifice. I see it.
For Arsenal to play Leverkusen and Sporting, Arsenal had to beat Inter Milan, Bayern and Athletico Madrid.
Don’t let anyone gaslight you.
If those teams beat us, we would not be where we are.
They beat Bayern who are the best team itw currently, Atletico who knock your darling Barcelona out and Inter there by finishing 1st.
They weren’t gifted Leverkusen & Sporting, they worked for it, maybe if the teams you mentioned won in the GS they’ll be there.
People are saying "David Raya winning MOTM shows how bad Arsenal were"
But when Donnaruma won MOTM in both semi final legs last year against Arsenal, it was PSG are good. The double standard is crazy
Funny now that Arsenal have confirmed that most who pulled out of the internationals are actually injured, haven’t heard a peep from the media who slated them…

The year Ozil got 19 assists and created the most chances there ever was he wasn’t even in the convo for POTY, and we finished 2nd.
But sure, let’s give it to Bruno who’s team will play the least amount of games humanly possible and plays once a month.
The anger you’re feeling watching $1,000,000 in American bombs obliterate a school in the Middle East while you can’t afford to take your child to the dentist is completely justifiable.
They illegally bomb another country without any justification, for the second year running, and then they put out videos as if they’re the innocent victims. Beyond parody.
Bombing Iran in the middle of negotiations, while starving Cuba, while genociding Palestinians, while threatening to invade Greenland… the US and Israel are the single greatest threat to humanity and it’s not even close. We are all forced to live in the nightmare they create.
