🚨 SEC COMMISSIONER WANTS LESS KYC DATA, MORE PRIVACY

SEC Commissioner Hester Peirce is calling for a rethink of mass KYC/AML data collection, warning that huge databases of personal information can become targets for hacks, phishing and even physical attacks.

Her idea? Use Zero-Knowledge Proofs (ZKPs) to verify that someone meets regulatory requirements without revealing their name, address, income or other sensitive data.

For example, instead of giving an exchange your full identity to prove you’re eligible, a ZK system could simply prove:

✅ “This person meets the requirement.”

No need to expose the underlying personal information.

Peirce says the goal isn’t to remove KYC/AML rules, but to verify what regulators need to know while collecting and storing far less personal data.
