There is a very special day that the UN invites us to celebrate every end of June.

June 27th is Micro-, Small and Medium-sized Enterprises (SME) Day. We are 1 day late to celebrate, because we wanted to see our politicians’ reaction.

The answer couldn't have been worse. While an unprecedented heatwave is devastating Europe, air conditioning keeps being criticized, and people are told to just deal with the heat. They hide behind fake environmental arguments to avoid telling the truth.

And the truth is that European enterprises have been abandoned. We do not have enough AC professionals to install all the required equipment. We do not have a reliable electrical grid to support the consumption needed for AC or manufacturing. We do not have cheap energy, despite having mastered the atom, the sun, the wind, and hydro.

Yesterday, at the EU Commission's HQ, they decided to turn off the AC on the floors where lower-level staff work, but kept it on the floors where Ursula von der Leyen works.

It is the same everywhere. Those who suffer the most from the heatwave are children, the elderly, and the sick; in hospitals, in schools, and at home.

Help us push for a new SME Day that we can all celebrate, without having to remember how heat kills here as much as guns in the USA.

A long time ago, our ancestors observed that the longest day of the year was the summer solstice, and the whole of Europe decided to celebrate it.

Initially a pagan tradition, and later adopted by agrarian Christianity, Midsummer is one of our most beloved festivals.

This is the time when we congregate around bonfires, maypoles, and tables laden with food. We sing, we dance, and we laugh, just as our forefathers did before us.

Ave Europa encourages its followers to honour our traditions for another year, celebrating with family and friends as local customs dictate.

He criticado al wokismo desde hace tiempo y sigo haciéndolo. Mucha gente todavía lo ve como algo exagerado o como un conjunto de ideas un poco raras pero inofensivas. Creen que son solo modas pasajeras o errores de interpretación y que no hay que darle mucha importancia. Pero las ideas tienen consecuencias reales.

Todo lo que ha pasado con las bandas de pakistaníes que abusaron de miles de niñas en Reino Unido durante años es, en gran parte, una consecuencia directa del wokismo. Esta ideología divide el mundo en opresores y oprimidos, y en ese esquema los musulmanes (sobre todo los de origen pakistaní) entran automáticamente en la categoría de víctimas del colonialismo y del racismo occidental. Como son víctimas, tienen una especie de superioridad moral y criticar o investigar a personas de ese colectivo se considera automáticamente racismo o islamofobia. Y nadie en las instituciones quería ser señalado como racista.

Esto es lo que produce la política de identidades: se deja de juzgar a las personas por lo que hacen y se empieza a juzgarlas por el grupo al que pertenecen. Da igual lo que haya pasado, lo importante es quién lo ha hecho. Si el autor pertenece a un grupo considerado “oprimido”, el asunto se minimiza, se relativiza o directamente se tapa. Lo hemos visto también con otros casos de violaciones en grupo cometidas por hombres que no son blancos: muchas feministas que normalmente están muy pendientes de estos temas guardan un silencio bastante llamativo cuando los agresores no encajan en el perfil que les interesa.

Es el nuevo antirracismo, que no tiene nada que ver con el de Martin Luther King. El de King quería que se juzgara a la gente por el contenido de su carácter, no por el color de su piel. Este nuevo enfoque hace exactamente lo contrario: convierte la identidad en lo más importante y crea dos varas de medir según quién sea el culpable.

El problema del wokismo no es que sea de izquierdas o de derechas. El problema es que es profundamente antiliberal. Rechaza la idea de que todos somos individuos con los mismos derechos y responsabilidades, y la sustituye por una visión en la que lo que importa es a qué grupo perteneces. Desde esa lógica se justifican dobles estándares, se limita la libertad de expresión cuando molesta a ciertos colectivos, y se antepone la protección de la narrativa identitaria a la protección real de las personas (en este caso, de niñas vulnerables).

Al final, lo que está haciendo es erosionar las bases sobre las que se construyeron las democracias liberales: la igualdad ante la ley, la presunción de inocencia, el juicio por hechos y no por identidades, y la capacidad de hablar con claridad aunque lo que tengas que decir sea incómodo. Y cuando eso se rompe, las consecuencias pueden ser muy graves, como ya hemos visto.
