Today we honour Rowan Stringer by raising awareness and providing education for concussions in sport. 💜
PACA has released a concussion education docuseries to shed light upon the severity of concussions and the impact concussions can have on a people’s lives. 💜
What are the best ways to prevent a concussion?
IDENTIFY who is responsible for implementing concussion protocol
UNDERSTAND the role sport governing bodies play in establishing proper safety guidelines
PROVIDE education and resources to create the best possible play environment
What is the best way to manage concussion symptoms?
Similar to recognizing a concussion, management is individualized. In all cases there are 3 important steps.
1. Seek Medical Help
2. Rest for up to 48 hrs
3. Gradual return to activities
What is the best course of action to take when concussion symptoms occur? Immediately REMOVE the individual from play! 🙌🧠
Removing the individual from play increased their chances of recovery!
How do you recognize a concussion? Every individual is different, so signs and symptoms vary from person to person! 💙💚
Some people may show immediate signs, while others may take a few days or even a week before showing symptoms. Symptoms include confusion or brain fog! 🧠
Next week on Rowan’s Law Day we will be releasing our first ever HeadsupCAN Film in collaboration with @PacaPeterboro
This series will provide a deeper understanding to #concussions and the invisible nature of this injury.

When dealing with the "Invisible Injury" ... It's hard to make those around you understand that feeling of loss... Sometimes take the advice of others who have been there before you
