Thanks to Dr Ruth Mitchell (@nuclearban - ICAN); James Miranda (@nsw_ETU) & Major General (ret'd) Mike Smith who spoke at LAW Fringe Event @NSWLabor state conference (here with LAW National Convenor Marcus Strom)
The rank-and-file will keep fighting to overturn AUKUS.
@bandtistbraden Anyone picking Luxemburg, Allende, Sankara, Mao, Hampton etc are cattle. The only good choices here are Lenin, Kautsky, and George Habash just to spice things up.
And @SenatorWong@RichardMarlesMP@AlboMP still cling to the fantasy of a ‘rules-based international order’.
This is the guy making the rules and they just follow them.
There's entire layers of society who are committed to the idea that the state exists to give your specific group handouts, tax breaks, free money, a kiss on the cheek, free pony rides, and a handjob too because fuck it why not at that point
🚨 LABOR'S 30% CGT TAX WILL HIT SOME OF AUSTRALIA'S POOREST. 🚨
⚖️ IT ABANDONS A CORNERSTONE OF AUSTRALIA'S INCOME TAX SYSTEM — TAX ACCORDING TO YOUR ABILITY TO PAY. ⚖️
Look at this couple.
They own their modest home.
Their income is below the tax-free threshold.
The roof is leaking and repairs cost $12,000.
They sell a few shares they have carefully saved over a lifetime...
...only to discover Labor now wants 30% Capital Gains Tax before they can fix their home.
That's not fairness.
That's punishing responsible Australians.
Why Labor's new CGT matters:
🔴 Low-income Australians can now pay a 30% tax on modest capital gains even when they pay little or no income tax.
🔴 Complex new rules mean accounting costs may exceed the profit from small investments, making compliance expensive and discouraging honest taxpayers.
🔴 Higher taxes discourage investment, reducing productivity, jobs, wages and economic growth.
🔴 Less investment means fewer new homes, putting even more pressure on housing affordability and rents.
🔴 The Government is abandoning the long-standing principle that tax should reflect a person's overall capacity to pay.
Australia should reward people who:
✅ Save.
✅ Invest.
✅ Prepare for retirement.
✅ Take responsibility for their own future.
Not punish them when they need their savings most.
A tax system should be:
⚖️ Fair.
📜 Simple.
🏛️ Predictable.
📈 Pro-growth.
Not a trap for pensioners and ordinary Australians.
🗳️ Support parties committed to reversing these unfair CGT changes and restoring a tax system that rewards aspiration, investment and productivity—not punishes it.

ULMWP Interim President Benny Wenda on the 48th Independence Anniversary of Solomon Islands
On behalf of the people of West Papua and the United Liberation Movement for West Papua (ULMWP), I extend my warmest congratulations to the Government and people of the Solomon Islands as you celebrate the 48th Anniversary of your Independence.
Independence is a precious gift, won through the courage, determination, and sacrifices of those who came before. Today, we join you in celebrating your freedom, your sovereignty, and your proud Melanesian identity.
The people of West Papua are deeply grateful for the friendship and solidarity shown by the people and leaders of the Solomon Islands throughout our peaceful struggle for self-determination. Your unwavering support has inspired hope among our people and strengthened our resolve to continue seeking justice through peaceful and diplomatic means.
As fellow Melanesians, we share a common history, culture, and destiny. We look forward to the day when West Papua is finally free, and our nations can stand side by side as equal members of the Melanesian family, working together for peace, justice, and prosperity across our Blue Pacific region.
On this special day, I pray that God will continue to bless the Solomon Islands with peace, unity, wisdom, and prosperity.
Happy 48th Independence Anniversary to the Government and the people of the Solomon Islands.
One day, a free West Papua will proudly stand with the Solomon Islands, united forever in the spirit of the Melanesian Brotherhood.
Benny Wenda
Interim President
United Liberation Movement for West Papua (ULMWP)
Cops out of conference!
Police have no place inside what should be a democratic parliament of the working class.
Instead we have a stage-managed anodyne rally where silent peaceful dissent gets ripped out by force
A complete travesty but the logic of supporting imperialism
@Isari301 No, by the early 20th century, most Indigenous people were integrated into colonial society in some way, either through slavery (reserves/missions/etc) or through incorporation into the ADF and the cities. This ignores Polynesians, Africans, Chinese, Afghans.
@rossivision What multicultural identity lmfao? That’s a recent invention, created by Bob Hawke’s government.
Otherwise, besides German settlement and enclaves in the early 20th century, Australia was uniquely monocultural and an outpost of the empire.
Trying to import Trump politics into Australia is a losing strategy. Our multicultural identity runs deeper than America’s, and this country was built by migrants. + anti-worker policies in a nation proud of higher wages and labour rights? Good luck. Fuck ONP.
isn't it awesome how every leftoid was going on about how we have to fight one nation, one nation scary, one nation fascism pauline scary, then like nothing happened because obviously hanson fumbled it and their polling is collapsing
leftist unity isnt happening because the left is made up of people with narcissistic in-group preference who want to center their issue first. ie working class whites who dont really like blacks, blacks who dont like gays, rich gays who dont really care about the workers, etc.
We're meant to believe that the US Patriots had a crystal ball and could predict, in the 1770s, that the British Empire would abolish slavery... in the 1830s...
Everyone should read Gerald Horne. The American Revolution was a Counter-Revolution. The “rebels” supported the continuation of slavery and expanding colonialism across the continent displacing and killing indigenous people.
