If you are looking to lead, there’s an opening for an Executive Director at a beautiful little retreat center in Sewanee, Tennessee. I’m heading up that search. You’d need to move, but a gorgeous place! The job description and submission details are linked in my bio.
Joyce surprised many when she left a dynamic career to begin another, and her kindness, generosity, and optimism shine through in this piece. #hoperich

Given baseball season is here, I need to remember this saying from former baseball commissioner Faye Vincent, Jr.:
“I find it fascinating that baseball, alone in sport, considers errors to be part of the game, part of its rigorous truth.”

I’ve written quite a lot, books even, about emotional fitness yet on any given day I’m far from it! I read an article this week about perfectionism, and sure that over the years it’s lessened its hold on me, I took the quiz. (1/3)
It was a privilege speak at @BryantUniv's Women's Summit!
Thank you to Drew Sullivan, Kelly Boudin, Amy Webster, Stephanie Porter & Inge-Lise Ameer for making my day there simply wonderful!

I’m heading to @RiderUniversity to meet with students, their mentors & alumni.

I’m always skeptical of research that wants to grab a headline. But I do know, firsthand, that doing volunteer work on company time made me a kinder, more open-hearted person when I returned to my job. How could it not? It paid its own unique kind of dividends.
I read a recent @nytimes article where researchers concluded that workplace wellness programs had little benefit. The exception: When workers are allowed to do volunteer work. https://t.co/7foJP0nGfO
Each week we had a couple of hours to go offsite and help a local organization, if we chose to. Some of our employees helped to build homes for Habitat for Humanity. A few tended a community garden. I delivered meals for Mobile Meals.
MLK was a deeply spiritual man, but I think he was referring to more than his spiritual beliefs. We need faith in ourselves, to discover our part of the planet to shine up. We don’t need to be MLK–we just need to follow his lead to build a more compassionate, connected world.
