5 years on from the #TaylorReview saying that the Government should reform Statutory Sick Pay, today’s #SpringStatement was another missed opportunity to do the right thing by working people. We need a #NewDeal4Workers
Covid-19 infections remain high, but next week the Government is ending Support Payments and changing when workers can claim sick pay, making it more difficult for many to be able to afford to be ill and off work. The Government must reform Statutory Sick Pay #NewDeal4Workers
We all have a duty to keep each other safe, please consider retail workers that are continually putting themseleves at risk to serve you. Covid is NOT over, even if the government have now cancelled it!
Heading out to the shops this weekend? Please help #KeepShopsSafe 👇
😷 Wear a face covering 📏 Maintain social distancing 🧴 Sanitise your hands 💳 Use contactless if you can 🤝 Respect retail workers
Too many essential workers are already struggling to pay their energy bills even before the price cap is increased by what is expected to be around 50%. The Government must provide substantial support for these working households https://t.co/0eFsi8sR2Z
The report from @CentreforCities shows the huge impact of the pandemic on our high streets. Warnings of a possible wave of high street closures reiterates why the Govt must urgently deliver a retail recovery plan including investing in skills and strengthening local economies.
Excellent work from the National Officer who has built a great rapport with the company over the last 2 years! Time for all retailers to take note and pay a fair wage.
The Sainsbury's/Argos pay deal is a big step forward for retail and Usdaw's #NewDeal4Workers campaign. We are calling on all retailers to pay at least £10ph and provide a real living wage for their staff https://t.co/51d3enbfCJ
Sainsbury's and Argos pay deal: #Usdaw achieves a £10 per hour basic rate in another step forward for the union’s #NewDeal4Workers campaign https://t.co/QyeMaBLgH3
I've written to the Prime Minister @BorisJohnson calling on the Government to review sick pay provisions and urgently update the workplace coronavirus guidance, reintroducing adequate social distancing and safety measures to #KeepShopsSafe
It's now a legal requirement to wear a face covering in English shops, unless you're exempt.
Shopworkers aren't police officers and shouldn't be expected to act like them. They're key workers who have kept our country going during these tough times. They deserve our respect.
We support the re-introduction of mask wearing, but for it to work effectively, the Prime Minister needs to follow suit. Unless this leadership is shown from the very top - Covid will continue to spread.
