I was born at 2lb 12 oz. I still have the scar from the chest tube placed during my 4 month NICU stay. Family was told I may have significant cognitive delays. Who knew that this preemie one day would be off to train as a child neurologist #MedTwitter#Pediatrics#Motivation

@TheandraMadu Thank you friend! I am so proud and in awe of you as well! I can’t wait to see the waves you make in neurology ❤️🧠, I’ll be surfing right behind you LOL
From fleeing a political war in Fiji to achieving my lifelong goal of becoming a physician. From the girl with epilepsy who they said was possessed by the devil to specializing in neurology. I really can’t believe this is my reality. Off to @UTSW_NeuroRes to become a neurologist!
My great-grandmother only had a 3rd grade education.
My grandmother died at the age of 39 after having a massive heart attack.
My mom, as a single mother, got her Masters & PhD in my lifetime.
& today, I am a Stanford Pediatric resident.
I am my ancestors wildest dreams🥺
Represenation matters! I hope that I will be able to really make an impact when I start my pediatrics training in the very near future, and to all of my colleagues from diverse backgrounds in medicine, remember, you are the role models of today, and YOU ARE NEEDED. 💕
Although the patient was a frequent flyer to hospitals, it was rare for her to see a Black physician in training as a member of her care team. She was rooting for my success, because of the bright future that young people of color could envision, just due to my presence.
So proud of my classmates! We really did it big this year! The doors we’ve opened and the history we’ve made paves the road for so many Howard medical students, and young aspiring docs behind us @HowardU#HUCM2022#MatchDay2022
Congrats to all the senior medical students and medical graduate docs who found out where you will be training in July. Special shout-out to the HUCM Class of 2022 for one of the most successful matches ever!! #hucm2022

Being a black man in america means constantly thinking about your encounters with police. I keep my registration above my mirror instead of the glovebox and I keep a stethoscope in the passenger seat. Not to save someone else’s life but to hopefully save mine #TIRED
