Sir, @SimFubaraKSC
First and foremost, I applaud the work done by the commissioners for the ministries of works, Health and safety, and all else contributing to the success of River state. May your labour bring forth lasting development for the people of Rivers state and Nigeria at large as one nation.
This road, though currently tarred, has developed a severely compromised section that has become a stagnant body of water which is a ticking time bomb for environmental degradation and disease outbreak. For years, critical maintenance of the drains has been utterly neglected, resulting in severe silting that has completely blocked water flow and created this hazardous pooling.
In January 2026, a public-spirited neighbour took the initiative to mobilise a few young boys to de-silt the drains, successfully connecting the stagnant water to a nearby street with a functioning drainage system. This was a vital, life-saving intervention that should have been extended across the entire road but the individual stated financial constraints as his reasons to cut it off at said "Haastrup" street.
However, in a shocking act of short-sightedness, the residents of that receiving street complained about the volume of run-off water and rather than supporting the extension of desilting works to the other end of the road, hired a mason to permanently block the culvert at their street entrance with concrete.
This is an emergency. The environmental and health consequences are escalating by the day. The deliberate blocking of the drainage system must be immediately rectified. The drains must be fully de-silted and extended to create a proper outflow for the entire road.
I urgently beseech you to intervene. The fact that the chairman of the residence is alleged to live on the very street that orchestrated this blockage raises serious questions about governance, conflict of interest, and accountability. This should not stand. Action is needed now before the next rainfall causes further destruction and before this stagnant water triggers a public health disaster.

Please, treat it as urgent. I do anticipate your positive consideration in this regard. This reckless decision has created a catastrophic situation:The street now floods severely during every rainfall, with water taking days to recede
The stagnant water poses an imminent public health crisis, breeding grounds for mosquitoes, waterborne diseases, and toxic contamination
The tarred road is suffering accelerated, irreversible damage as the flooding worsens with each downpour
Public property is being destroyed due to this entirely preventable negligence
Kind regards,
Just look at how young and bright they are.
Their present is already generations ahead of the future Nigerian university students.
I swear if you are supporting this government, you shall not die well!
