Pakistan has reduced the advance income tax on imported mobile phones priced between $101 and $200 from Rs. 930 to just Rs. 100 per handset, an approximately 89% cut.

The mobile handset levy has also been lowered from Rs. 600 to Rs. 200. However, sales tax rates remain unchanged, and other applicable duties will still apply. The tax relief could make some imported smartphones cheaper, depending on whether retailers pass the savings on to customers.

Finance Minister Muhammad Aurangzeb confirmed that the announced relief has been implemented, with no further tax changes currently planned.

Ufone received the highest penalties, followed by Jazz, Zong and Telenor. The figures highlight challenges in enforcing telecom regulations and collecting fines from operators.
