“We had a child that every time we would serve food, literally would stuff their pockets with food.”

Palmer Home President and CEO Drake Bassett shares how years of uncertainty can shape a child’s ability to trust. He recalls a child who continued hiding food because they did not yet believe another meal would be waiting the next day.

Over time, the child began to understand there would always be food, safety, a bed and people who would be there for them.
