After assuming the office, Dr. Virendra Kumar, the Union Minister for Social Justice and Empowerment, held an introductory meeting with senior officials in the Department of Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities. During the meeting, Dr. Virendra Kumar discussed the action plans to be implemented in the upcoming hundred days under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

Dr. Virendra Kumar stated that the Department of Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities plays a crucial role in empowering persons with disabilities educationally, socially, culturally, and economically. Our goal should be to complete our hundred-day action plans as soon as possible. Our aim should be that whatever work we do contributes to the progress of society and the nation. Our work should be such that it receives recognition not only within the country but also internationally. Moreover, other countries should emulate our successful plans. We acknowledge that various challenges arise while working, but challenges also present opportunities to excel by overcoming them.

After the meeting, Dr. Virendra Kumar toured the department, where he also met with all the officers and employees working there.

दिव्यांगजन सशक्तिकरण विभाग के अधीनस्थ राष्ट्रीय संस्थान, भारतीय सांकेतिक भाषा अन���संधान एवं प्रशिक्षण में बधिर और श्रवण व्यक्तियों के लिए भारतीय सांकेतिक भाषा व्याख्या में डिप्लोमा करने हेतु आवेदन प्रक्रिया दिनांक 15 मई 2024 से शुरू हो चुकी है, आवेदन करने की अंतिम तिथि 29 मई 2024 है। इन कोर्सेस में यूडी��ईडी कार्ड धारक दिव्यांग व दिव्यांग व्यक्ति के माता-पिता या भाई-बहन (जिनके पास यूडीआईडी कार्ड, आधार कार्ड, अन्य संबंधित दस्तावेज) का प्रवेश शुल्क माफ किया गया है।
