@k_tajbakhsh@yarbatman Agreed with the caveat that the US never allowed for normalisation of relations, always posing a threat to the regime’s survival and reneging on agreements. So whether the regime would pose as much of a threat as it does now without such continuous pressure remains unanswered.
Four new videos from the Kahrizak morgue in south Tehran, likely filmed on 10 January, have been published by @Vahid.
The writing on this body clarifies they were born on 1/1/1388 on the Iranian calendar, which is 21/3/2009, meaning we're looking at the body of a 16-year-old.
@dpatrikarakos Don’t use the plight of the Iranians for your own political messaging or agenda please. From what I heard from you on the disorder podcast, I thought you were more intellectually honest than that.
@dpatrikarakos Striking how many who can’t stop speaking up about Iran did not have anything to say on Gaza.
Now let’s also include every other thing that people didnt comment on… Sudan, Guinea-Bissau, Benin.
@owenjonesjourno Yeah but it would make sense if you or those like you who make any claims to caring about human life and rights should amplify the voices of Iranian protesters to increase the pressure on the regime so they are less likely to massacre protesters (as they’ve done before)
@michaeldickson Same rule applies to all the people now so concerned about the Iranian citizens but were silent or defiant about gazans’ situation, surely?
@lindseyhilsum@DAaronovitch@simon_schama@DavQuinn Deeply cynical ploy by certain groups to use the bravery of the Iranian people and what they’re facing to advance an agenda against media channels (particularly bbc). The accounts who are part of the same cabal are outing themselves with it though!
