Rules for thee but not for me
@JenniferTa16794@Linzipinzi@QoachGarett@CollinRugg Whataboutism. That a percentage of people don’t work, doesn’t mean you should force people to add more newborns to that list. Choice is crucial here. No one forces an abortion. But diagnosis gives parents a choice in the matter. If they choose to keep it, they can also prepare.
@marethink@moominborea@CollinRugg The science is literally the facts. It’s not something people make up. Science measures things empirically and describes in detail how they do that so you yourself can reproduce it. It’s not subjective unlike your anecdotal made up story. Villus and ambio are 100% accurate!
@moominborea@marethink@CollinRugg You notice there are many comments here claiming the same story? It is fake medicine is exceptionally well-enabled to diagnose DS in utero. Most even only allow abortion due to that information if two separate tests confirm (NIPT and either villus or amnio).
@xstupidxkid@QoachGarett@CollinRugg I would. It’s just factual reality. No need to lie about facts just to not hurt someone’s feelings. I’m not judging his happiness, he can be perfectly happy living this life and I admire him for it. Just don’t judge other people for making different decisions.
@TheRCMan2018@QoachGarett@CollinRugg Only 3% can do a basic job for more than 30 hours a week. Just 30% can prepare a sandwich. 20% can’t even communicate at all. Just 30% can have functional conversation. You apply apex fallacy. Taking the smartest of DS people and extrapolating that to all others.
@OdysseyTajuana@QoachGarett@CollinRugg Always easy to judge people and condemn them to a life of heavily dependant and care needing children when you are not the one in that position. Also DS hardly reproduce as they are rarely capable to. So it’s hardly eugenics.
@QoachGarett@CollinRugg Difference is I know the statistics. Only a third manages to do basic stuff like preparing a meal or talk about symptoms to a doctor. Just 3% manage a basic job for more than 30 hours. In most cases they don’t become functioning. You are talking about the smartest ds people.
@Linzipinzi@QoachGarett@CollinRugg Highly functional? Only a third can do basic tasks like preparing a meal, describe symptoms to a doctor and so on. I would not call that highly functional. Only 3% manage to do a basic job for more than 30 hours a week. How is that highly functional? 30 yrs lower life expencancy
@jaemspa@theislandtea Maybe he's just blond? It's much worse to dye your hair cause someone on the internet said you look like a child than to be confident in your own body. If he already dyes his hair sure, criticise away.
@5pointNat@CollinRugg Cute when they're babies, the only problem is they stay babies forever, whilst all the other non-down kids grow up and become self-sufficient.
@demon_burner@CollinRugg Autism can't be diagnosed in utero. It's a development issue with the child, especially regarding social matters (among other things). You'll only find out when they are like 5 years old. But autism doesn't necessarily make them dependant for the rest of their lives.
@QoachGarett@CollinRugg Well when they are babies they're just as helpless as all other babies. The difference is the other babies actually grow up and become self-sustaining. Your baby will stay like a baby forever. Come back in 20 years and then say if it's still the greatest thing ever.
