Gone too soon at just 22 years old. Remembering Aaliyah, the young star who passed away 25 years ago today 🕊️

What makes her story hit so hard is that she wasn’t nearing the end of a great career. She was only beginning to show how big it could become.

Already a major R&B star with One in a Million, Try Again, and her self-titled album, Aaliyah was also making a serious move into Hollywood. She had starred opposite Jet Li, played a vampire queen, and had already been cast in The Matrix sequels before her life was suddenly cut short.

Her most remembered acting roles:
Trish O’Day (Romeo Must Die)
Queen Akasha (Queen of the Damned)

At just 22, she had already influenced music, fashion, dance and film.

Twenty-five years later, perhaps the saddest question remains the same: How far would Aaliyah have gone?
