UPDATE: Acting Minister of @UgandaMFA Haruna Kyeyune Kasolo has announced that President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni has directed the Ministry to initiate evacuation plans for Ugandans trapped in the xenophobic unrest in South Africa.
The Uganda Communications Commission has noted the circumstances that have led to the Nation Media Group's outlets, including NTV Uganda, Spark TV, Dembe FM, and KFM, going off air.
Consultations have begun with the relevant government stakeholders to obtain verified information.
The Commission urges the public to remain calm and allow these consultations to proceed.
We will provide further updates as appropriate once the consultations conclude.

We have taken note of information circulating on social media alleging that H.E. the President has appointed five Assistant Inspectors General of Police.
For the record, the officers referred to in the circulating message were appointed in December 2024 and have since been serving in their respective capacities and executing their normal Police duties.
The message currently being shared is old and misleading, as the Directors mentioned have now been in office for close to two years.
We therefore urge the public to disregard the circulating information and rely on official communication channels for accurate updates.
Today, at State House, Entebbe, I welcomed a delegation from Al Mansour Holdings led by Mr. Umar Bchinnati, who brought a message from Sheikh Mansour bin Jabor.
We discussed areas where Uganda and Qatar could cooperate, especially value addition through fruit processing, starch, coffee, pharmaceuticals, energy, and logistics. Uganda has the resources, market, and people. What we need are more partnerships that bring capital, technology, and equipment to create jobs and transform our economy.
I welcome this collaboration and look forward to strengthening our ties with Qatar.
Habari nzuri Woote? Mungu asifiwe (apoyo Rubanga, yebazibwe Katonda).
Congratulations on the series of elections that we have been having ever since the
15th of January, 2026. These were: the Presidential, the Parliamentary, District Chairpersons, District Councillors, Sub-County Chairpersons and Sub-County Councillors. I, especially, congratulate our
party, the NRM, for winning all those elections with big majorities.
I also congratulate the other parties such as the DP, UPC, etc., that participated
in the elections without using violence unlike the Party of NUP and some few elements of FDC, that were using violence. The parties under IPOD should clearly lay out agreed guidelines on the dos and don’ts of election management, according to the laws and the constitution of Uganda.
Today, IGP Byakagaba Abas visited Police Training School Ikafe in Yumbe District to meet with recruit trainees who are soon to be passed out. They demonstrated to him their readiness in key policing skills.
He gave a lecture of opportunity during which he emphasized that excellence in service is built on teamwork discipline and a clear sense of purpose.
He stressed that peace and security are the foundation of national progress and every officer should play a crucial role in safeguarding them.
IGP urged the trainees to embrace collective responsibility, foster a supportive environment and remain committed to contributing to Uganda’s aspiration of moving beyond lower-middle-income status.
I am truly inspired by President @KagutaMuseveni’s powerful message today at the Kabalye Police Training School pass-out ceremony.
‘𝐂𝐫𝐢𝐦𝐢𝐧𝐚𝐥𝐬 𝐚𝐥𝐰𝐚𝐲𝐬 𝐥𝐞𝐚𝐯𝐞 𝐭𝐫𝐚𝐜𝐞𝐬.’
He urged the new officers to embrace modern, scientific policing: harness forensic science, deploy K9 sniffer dogs, leverage CCTV, and meticulously preserve crime scenes especially in cases like livestock theft. He called on communities not to interfere with evidence, so that justice can be swift and certain.
This forward-thinking approach; blending discipline, integrity, and technology is exactly what Uganda needs to fight crime effectively while building a safer, more prosperous nation. Proud of this vision! 🙏🏿
Afande @EmituEbapu is a very popular man in Kabarye among the constables because he was commandant there before he was transferred to Kampala as its KMP commander.
He received his flowers yesterday 🌹

"I am honored and pleased, at this juncture, to report that following the successful completion of rigorous training, the fears and uncertainties that often accompany such a demanding journey have been overcome, and the expectations of the training programme have been satisfactorily achieved.
The trainees from the two courses graduating today are now fully equipped with the requisite knowledge, skills, attitudes, and professional values required to serve as Police and Immigration officers, ready to faithfully serve their Motherland, Uganda.
More importantly, these graduates have been prepared to understand and appreciate that peace, security, and the rule of law are the bedrock of national development. They have therefore been trained to serve selflessly, uphold integrity, and make meaningful contributions towards the socio-economic transformation and prosperity of Uganda."
