Merit should matter.

Businesses should be free to appoint the best person for the job.

70 Years of Women’s Power
President @CyrilRamaphosa honours the significance of National Women’s Day, describing it as a day of profound importance not only for women, but for the entire country.
At the 2026 National Women’s Day Commemoration, the President recognised the women serving across South Africa’s security services and highlighted the progress made by women who continue to take their place in every sphere of national life.
He said the 1956 Women’s March was no footnote in the struggle for freedom, it changed the course, character and leadership of that struggle, demonstrating that women were its leaders, organisers and authors.

70 Years of Women’s Power
President Cyril Ramaphosa says the true measure of the 70th anniversary of the Women’s March must be found in the lives of women and girls across South Africa.
The President highlighted the importance of women being able to grow up safe and healthy, access education, find work and receive fair pay, and live as full and equal citizens.
The President delivered these remarks at the 2026 National Women’s Day Commemoration at the Union Buildings in Tshwane, Gauteng, on 9 August 2026, marking the 70th anniversary of the historic Women’s March.

This conflict for me has always been about morality.
Morally, you cannot justify the killing of Palestinian civilians, even if you say it’s fighting terrorism.
But morally, you also cannot justify the killing of Israeli civilians, even if you say you’re fighting occupation.
[QUESTION OF THE DAY]
Hundreds have been killed and scores injured in the latest escalation of violence in the Israeli-Palestine conflict. Are there any possible solutions to the ongoing conflict?
