There seems to be an uncomfortable pattern of sidelining and undermining Luo voices within Linda Mwananchi by individuals entrusted with leadership in the movement.

I received an audio recording of a meeting in which deeply troubling and undermining remarks were made. Soon afterwards, I alongside others, had been removed from various official groups with zero explanation.

We cannot champion inclusion in public while practicing the exact opposite internally.

This tendency deserves honest scrutiny!

DEMOCRATIC PARTY WILL OPPOSE THIS DRACONIAN LEGISLATIVE PROPOSAL

The Democratic Party unequivocally opposes any legislative proposal seeking to weaken electoral transparency by removing safeguards for the live transmission of election results. Article 86 of the Constitution demands an electoral system that is accurate, verifiable, secure, accountable and transparent. Kenyans did not fight for multiparty democracy to be subjected to an electoral process shrouded in secrecy. Any attempt to weaken public scrutiny of election results is an affront to the spirit of constitutional democracy and must be resisted through every lawful parliamentary and constitutional avenue. Elections belong to the people, not the government, and no administration should treat transparency as a threat to its political interests.

We demand that Parliament reject any provisions that undermine public access to timely, verifiable election information. Restricting transparency risks creating an information vacuum, fuelling misinformation and eroding public confidence in electoral institutions. The Democratic Party will stand firmly against any rollback of democratic safeguards and will demand clear accountability from those sponsoring or supporting such changes. Our position is unequivocal: no information blackout, no weakening of constitutional protections, and no legislation that compromises Kenyans' right to scrutinise their elections. Democracy must never be sacrificed at the altar of political convenience.

Kenya remains one of the few countries where elections have NEVER been stolen. There have been irregularities but often from both sides, most famously 2007 where Kibaki clearly won. 2027 will be no different. We say NO to electoral fraud and rigging because we are a just people.
