We didn't get the best news today at a doctors visit. Surgery #3 coming for my Babydoll(wifey). She looked at me and said God has been building me for this, And thank goodness its on a bye week so Nicholas doesn't have game 🙄

No blink! No doubt! No fear! Just Jesus! Its humbling to watch. It doesn't mean I'm not scared as hail, but man the Peace of God is incredible. My Babydolls favorite verse is 2 Corinthians 12:9–10, "But he said to me, ‘My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.’ Therefore I will boast all the more gladly of my weaknesses, so that the power of Christ may rest upon me. For the sake of Christ, then, I am content with weaknesses, insults, hardships, persecutions, and calamities. For when I am weak, then I am strong."

She is weak right now, but our God isnt. If you are the praying type we will take em all.

If you’ve never seen the movie “Taking Chance,” I highly recommend you take some time and watch it this weekend. It follows a Marine LTC as he escorts one of his Marines home after he is killed in action.

Based on a true story, It’s one of the best movies about war and its aftermath I have ever seen.

It’s a gutting movie, but it’s one you need to see at least once in your life.

Believe it or not, the Army trains all the time, all over the world; even while deployed. I did a training exercise in Afghanistan when things were still popping off, because we had a mission coming up that needed practice.

Training never stops.

The Army now has a “bring your own device,” option where you can check email from your personal cell. Being able to check work emails from your personal phone feels like a blessing, but it’s actually a curse.

Managing this 'here' vs 'there':

The U.S. has been using this outbreak as a pretense to put in a lot of restrictive travel policies.

Even if many of these actions aren't really helpful or operationally meaningful, they are often a bipartisan move that usually gets put in place in response to Ebola outbreaks.

But this administration has gone way beyond funneling people into certain airports for screening. It's banning outright travelers, including permanent residents of the U.S.

This is a policy you put in place when you have nothing else meaningful to add. It gives the appearance of doing 'something' while effectively doing nothing of value at all. And it takes away attention from where the real problem is.

For justification, they claim this move is “critical to slowing the introduction of Ebola disease into the United States”—but the only thing that’d meaningfully reduce that risk is actually ending the outbreak in DR Congo and the region.

These moves are just a proxy for the more important and impactful work we could and should be doing.
