This is from the book: How To Live On 24 Hours a Day by Arnold Bennett. Gentle nudge - Go and do your duties faithfully and make the best use of those 8 hours you work.
In 24 hrs, assume 8 hrs for work, 8 hrs for sleep, 8 hrs for yourself. Majority of the people do not fully provide their effort, attention, and are seldom at their full “h.p.” in those 8 hours they spend at work, maybe due to lack of passion or that’s boring or some other reason.
This doesn’t get old. What a wonderful 7 mins. 9 years back when I was fully into Toastmasters and public speaking, this was one of the speeches my 5yo son and I watched it several times - funny, realistic and inspiring all at the same time. watch;

Some stories bring back our own memories.
Some stories look surreal and make us uncomfortable, yet make us think differently.
Some stories expand our point of view beyond the regular.
Almost always, stories don’t preach, stories stick.
What 87 years of Harvard study has shown is, the quality of your close relationships satisfaction at age 50 determines how healthy you will live at 80 - not genetics/wealth/career/IQ/or what cholesterol or BP levels showed at 50.
Different assets, different centuries, different regulatory regimes — but the psychological sequence is nearly identical every time: displacement → boom → euphoria → profit-taking by insiders → panic. What about AI?

India’s GDP comparison -1946, 1991, 2025.
Agriculture and Services have nearly swapped places. Clearly since 1991, services sector (IT, Finance, Telecom etc) has grown significantly.
“The psychology of human misjudgement” by Charlie Munger is probably one of the best to understand the 25 biases humans have.
It really helps to see how really the world works. Best resource to encourage to make psychology as lifelong learning.

Travelled on BMTC bus to office today.
Just costed 34Rs from Kalena Agrahara (Bannerghatta road) to Electronics city.
Although it took about 20 mins more than company/personal transport, it was pleasant.
Peak hours are still difficult but nice to see some improvement.
One of the simple yet useful self help book for me was The magic of thinking big.
While the advise may look cliche now as so many books have been written on that subject now, for me it was really helpful, as it was one of the key reasons to join Toastmasters club.
It was the same kind of involvement when he wrote. He would write, write, and write; sometimes it would go on until late at night or early morning.
When you are in flow, you just continue. Again, that complete involvement and losing yourself in the art makes all the difference.
Dr. Shivaram Karanth's autobiography, "Huchchu Manasina Hattu Mukhagalu", is a very inspiring book.
When he was on stage performing Play or Yakshagana, every movement of his hands, legs, eyes, and gestures was so deeply involved in the story that you felt out of this world.
There is something about routine I like. In London, I would take 8:34 am train from Harrow to reach office by 9 am.
Only when Covid hit in 2020 I realized how much I missed that structure -getting ready, the short travel, and the seriousness that simple everyday routine brought.
They had quite a good collection, including old classics. I would get books from veterans : Dr Shivarama Karanth, SL Bhairappa, Kuvempu, Yandamuri Virendranath, U.R. Ananthamurthy.
It is so nice to have such good literature and Authors in Kannada.
I have a fond memory of reading Kannada novels. In the initial part of my career, 2002-2005 period neither I had TV nor a smartphone, so night time was set for reading books. I used to get Kannada novels from a private library in Mangalore.
I have been trying to make daily exercise as a habit for so long but never happened for many years.
What worked for me is going for a walk immediately after dropping kids to school bus.
Kids go to school every day that's why I would not miss.
Started investing since 2007. In last 19 years, have seen a few multibaggers, and many mistakes but the overall portfolio returns are just matching the benchmark after tax and costs,
I have taken a good fund manager advisory, otherwise, the returns would have been even worse.
When I was sick, he would come to my school during lunch just to make sure I ate. We watched cricket together, even at 3 a.m. India-Australia matches. He is 85 now. He still gives me strength. We talk about politics, wisdom, family, or sometimes, I like just being together.
My father lost his father at 21 and suddenly became responsible for 8 younger siblings. A school teacher, he cycled 13 km each way to work for years. Later, he started an unconventional second career, never worrying much about what others thought.
