We’re CPS parents advocating for students' interests for an option of in-person learning. Come collaborate and to promote what’s best for our CPS families.
We've come so far since Omicron arrived. We're now averaging 200 cases per day, which is 97% less than our peak. Thank you, Chicago, for doing your part to get us to this point.
There is still risk, though. Find your vaccine and booster on https://t.co/CaEaU8t8jF.
@ParentCps@stacydavisgates Looks like someone who is running for re-election...Preaching cooperation now rings hollow after two years of labeling anyone who asked to follow public health guidance as someone who was seeking to kill teachers, students and family members.
@CRitsem @miriamcb Is it just too hard to believe that parents with no “connections” can come together and rally around an issue? It’s disheartening to witness the belittling of parents based solely on race. Happy to engage in lively civil discourse in real life as opposed to this platform.
I wrote about what the pandemic has been like for parents of kids with speech-language disorders, and why the debate about Covid restrictions on the youngest children is especially fraught.

@iftaft $1,432,300 in campaign contributions to Speaker Madigan. Congrats on funding his legal defense. Incredible that teachers dues go to defend someone under federal indictment. How many no show jobs did you help facilitate? #corruption
@CTULocal1 How much of the $358,950 that you gave to Madigan will be spent on his legal defense? Lining the pockets of attorneys instead of schools. Imagine what that money could do to recruit teachers and improve education. #paytoplay#noshowjobs
@SashaAnnSimons You argue that the length of exposure is the key difference between a school setting and a Bulls game. Are we ok as a society masking children 7 hours a day? Even when public health officials say it is not necessary?
"Why are we creating new measures when our health officials have said it's safe?"
We're talking to Nancy Griffin, organizer at Chicago Parents Collective, about CPS schools removing the mask mandate.

Illinois will no longer require masks in child care centers, but sites can set their own rules. Some larger providers say they will keep them mask rules for now -- and wait for more guidance from the feds.

@miriamcb And many other families do not want masks to be required. Mask optional is the answer. Do you truly believe that @IDPH wants to be responsible for excess deaths? At what point will you be comfortable lifting restrictions? Honestly asking because 0% risk is not possible.
A coalition of community groups, public health advocates and parents of CPS students accused Mayor Lightfoot and Gov. Pritzker of caving to political pressure to lift the mandates — and putting Black and Brown lives in danger in the process. https://t.co/diOkc9u13D
@miriamcb Can you please use data and science to backup your claims? Children have and continue to be the least at-risk population. #followthescience https://t.co/Fk6uYfOg4z
@ChiParentsAct Can we agree that mask optional is an appropriate step in light of current COVID metrics? Would love to drive parents to your rally, but kind of tough when it is at 9:30am on a non-holiday Monday.
📢 ACTION - The anti-mask groups have had their say, now it's time for parents and community members who SUPPORT masks and vaccines in CPS schools to speak out. Take action for public health and safety and join us Monday, Feb. 28th, 9:30am, at Chicago City Hall. #MaskUp 🍎😷✊
More than a million New York City school children will return to class tomorrow. If our numbers continue to show a low level of risk, we will remove the indoor mask mandate for public school students, effective Monday, March 7.
We will make a final decision on Friday, March 4.
When the mask and vaccine requirements lift tomorrow, remember to be kind to those who choose to mask.
Reminder: Masks will still be required in public transportation and health care settings, and some businesses and venues may still choose to require masks/vaccination status.
Per the Governor's announcement, masks are optional for all schools and school districts starting Monday, Feb. 28.
We are deeply grateful for the partnership of all our school leaders throughout this pandemic to keep our students and educators safe.
