a young man, a former chorister, grateful for every morsel of bread / @u16dotco / 'six months to salvation’ on @abctv, ‘an unscripted earth’ on @primevideo
a half-hour cut of ‘Six Months to Salvation,’ the documentary about voluntourism I co-produced and edited a few years ago, will air on ABC TV on Sunday at 6:30pm! please watch it!
@manforoneseason I haven’t seen any of The Curse yet, but it faces an uphill battle to convince me it needed to be longer than a Lav Diaz or Bela Tarr, and orders of magnitude longer than any Haneke (which I presuppose is the audience response they’re going for)
@manforoneseason @Nelsonhdale this was my main thought at the ground, close to pitch-side. the Fijians were getting on ball fast and effectively. it felt like the threat of Fraser over the ball was completely nullified, and honestly I barely noticed him playing at all
Make a 20-track comp of your all-time fav tracks, each artist can only feature once. Not the 'best' songs, the ones that bring instant joy the second you hear the first note, the ones that give other people the best insight into what stirs your soul. Share when ready. #20tracks
@will_owen9@SquidgeRugby Aussies vs Cymry in Lyon has to be a go! Though I played touch earlier this year and I’m not sure anyone would want me on their team
@manforoneseason only things I have bookmarked on twitter are this, that, the no country “you’re cancelled” dub, the nrl grand final-winning captain “…and to my boys!!” vid and the aunty donna ben mendelssohn “you wouldn’t be talking to the cops would ya mate?” clip
@manforoneseason for the rest, cultural literacy (+ basic literacy), and with it cultural curiosity, is lower than I can ever remember it being. how many will voluntarily read Faulkner/Joyce, who are as inscrutable as any public law text book but won’t secure a six figure salary on the other end?
@manforoneseason plus, the kinds of young people who are primed to study arts at uni are probably already well-versed in applying new criticism (and Marxist, feminist, postcolonial, etc. lit crit) to their conversations with friends, writing for leisure (on letterboxd, for e.g.), etc.
