@SHistorians @SProctorGolf Interesting! Where did you find these scores? Jones actually shot 39-35-74, but apparently no one double checked the math. The bronze scorecard at the club also shows 75.
Need some help…
Do you have an old picture of the 16th green at Pasatiempo? A selfie with it in the background? A shot of the green from the fairway? Anything of 16 would work.
Please pass it on here if you’re willing to allow us to use it in our upcoming feature on the restoration of Pasa’s 16th green. Thank you!🙏
Pasatiempo Golf Club - #96/Top 100
Alister MacKenzie - 1928
One of the best walks in all of golf is only getting better!
What a cool experience getting to play this classic mid-restoration. The front 9 is complete, the back 9 is coming later this year. The new greens are unreal, the new Bentgrass greens truly allow Alister’s design to shine.
Jim Urbina has studied Pasatiempo for 20 years while working for Doak and now has the reigns of this ongoing project. The greens have been expanded and restored as close to original as they can get. They are so good.
The routing remains one of the best. Alister used the ravines and barrancas to create a course with 18 unique holes. Trouble lays everywhere but is almost always avoidable with a safe target.
The fairways are some of the most interesting on earth, 14 and 16 rivaling the great front 9 fairways of Crystal Downs. You have to think before your tee shots, though they are wide enough for all players.
Pasatiempo is a private club that welcomes all players. It’s a gift to all golfers.
A walk at Pasatiempo is truly a walk with Alister himself. He loved it so that his ashes were spread amongst the grounds. A greater compliment to this place he could not have paid.
Exciting times here at the FPC as we're working on immersive videos about course renovations (@CanalShores, Cobbs Creek, and MORE!) There is also a new course at @GambleSands and we are thrilled to announce we're documenting the greens restoration at @PasatiempoGolf

Pasatiempo is an American treasure and at No. 96 on @GolfDigest’s list of 100 Greatest, it’s wildly underrated. At @firepitstories, we’re honored to be documenting the restoration of the Alister MacKenzie greens, which is being done by Jim Urbina.
