Four Killed by Soldiers During Protest in Cameroon
At least four people — including a young man who was reportedly watching a football match in a bar — were shot and killed by soldiers during a protest in New Bell, a neighborhood in Douala’s 2nd district.
Although videos of the incident have circulated online, we are unable to publish them for ethical reasons. However, links to the footage can be found on our Telegram channel.
The protests erupted after Cameroonians took to the streets to denounce what they called a “stolen victory” in the October 12 presidential election. Demonstrators urged the Constitutional Council to “respect the will of the people” during the official proclamation of results.
The Constitutional Council is expected to announce the official election outcome on Monday, October 27. However, sources suggest that incumbent President Paul Biya and his ruling CPDM party — long accused of electoral fraud and malpractice — are likely to be declared winners.
Meanwhile, the main opposition leader, who released a video earlier this week calling for nationwide protests, claims he actually won the election with 54% of the vote, compared to 31% for Biya.
Why are the military using live ammunition against unarmed, peaceful protesters?
The best decision I ever made was marrying you, @MichelleObama. For 33 years, I’ve admired your strength, grace, and determination — and the fact that you look so good doing it all. Happy anniversary!
@Delta please get your acts right. How can you have 2 Atlanta bound flights from SDF Louisville KY
having issues at the same time? I thought @Delta is supposed to be reliable #Delta
@Delta get your acts right. Stop all these flight cancellations. You were supposed to be the most reliable but it seems you are now way at the bottom #Delta@delta
