20 years ago OTD in Blue Bombers History July 20, 2006. Bombers are down by 3 to Eskimos with the ball on their own 10 yd line and time for one last play. Kevin Glenn and Milt Stegall play pitch and catch as Stegall scores a 100 yd touchdown to give the Bombers a 25-22 victory.

OTD in Blue Bombers History July 21, 1988 former Baylor QB Tom Muecke replaces a struggling Roy Dewalt and leads the Blue and Gold to 21-9 victory v Tiger-Cats. Muecke passed for 138 yards and 1 touchdown to Perry Tuttle. Sadly Muecke died of a heart attack in 2016. He was 52

A character comeback win for Blue Bombers 36-34 over winless RedBlacks in OT. Dru Brown and offence finally found their form in 4th Qtr forcing OT with 17 points. Defence did their part in 3rd Qtr with 3 stops from 1 Yd line and an end zone interception. Liked CFL new OT rules

OTD in Blue Bombers History July 19, 1981 the Bombers defeat the 3 time defending Grey Cup champion Eskimos 38-28 on a wild Sunday afternoon at Winnipeg Stadium 2nd Quarter was the key as the Blue and Gold dominated offensively, defensively and on special teams scoring 32 points

As a teenager what I learned about curling came from watching and listening to Don Duguid on CBC and his love of the game. A Manitoba and Canadian sports legend. Here is a feature I did about Don Duguid and his Manitoba, Brier and Silver Broom Championship team of 1970 and 1971.

It is with great sadness that I share that my father, Don Duguid, passed away peacefully last evening at the age of 90.

While today is a difficult day for our family, we are also reflecting on his long and extraordinary life. He leaves an enduring legacy in the sport of curling as a two-time world curling champion and long-time broadcaster.

He is survived by his beloved wife, Barb, along with his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.

Our family is deeply grateful for the many messages, prayers, and expressions of concern that have been shared over the past weeks. Your support and thoughtfulness have meant more than you know.

A special thank you to the dedicated physicians, nurses, and staff at Grace Hospital for the compassionate care they provided to Dad and our family.

We will miss him dearly and are grateful for the life he lived and the legacy he leaves behind.

OTD in Blue Bombers History July 16, 1982 Dieter Brock passes for over 300 yards for the 30th time as the Blue and Gold embarrassed the Montreal Concordes, in their CFL debut, 36-0. It was also a big night for WR Eugene Goodlow who had 3 touchdowns in the romp at the ‘Big O’

OTD in Blue Bombers History July 15, 1983 Dieter Brock goes from villain to hero in 20-18 win v Esks. After signing a 5-year 1 million dollar contract Brock tried to force his release. Ending his holdout just before season began and started as the backup to Nickie Hall this night

OTD in Blue Bombers History July 14, 1994 Matt Dunigan stuns football world passing for a record 713 yards in 50-35 win v Eskimos. Alfred Jackson hauled in 7 of Dunigan’s 33 completions for 308 yds (a Bomber record) and 4 TDs. I talked to Matt afterwards

OTD in Blue Bombers History July 12, 1981 Dieter Brock is sacked 6 times and the Roughriders defence forces him to get rid of the ball on 9 other occasions. But Brock, the 1980 CFL MOP, has the last word engineering a 78 yard TD drive in the final two minutes for a 22-20 victory
