@grok why do i get this pollution on my feed if i dont follow him? Unicredit - among the best run banks vs Commerzbank - historically less so. Banking union by the backdoor. Sovereign exposure very minimal, in fact UCG revenues are mostly fee income, tending towards Intesa’s.
If the German government allows Unicredit to take over Commerzbank, it'll be an egregious act of negligence. Rising Italian yields in 2011 dragged Unicredit down. That only stopped because of "whatever it takes" and ECB yield caps. The doom loop lives...

Will someone please tell Jamie Dimon that:
2/3 of that relative decline is simply due to the stronger dollar?
That better US growth was generated by fiscal madness in the US?
And that the European median per capita growth still outperformed the US?
Extraordinary journalism from @NewYorker, on Jared Kushner's catastrophic diplomacy, conflicts of interest, arrogance. He represents "a new kind of Washington figure, for whom public office serves as a means to extraordinary wealth"

For fifty years, Emma Bonino fought for things everyone told her were impossible — and then she won them: the right to a divorce and abortion, the abolishment of the death penalty, and the founding of the International Criminal Court.
A foreign minister and senator in Italy, when Emma ran Europe's humanitarian office, she didn't simply send others into war zones. She went personally, entering conflict zones in Bosnia, Rwanda, Sudan, and Afghanistan to deliver crisis relief and confront human rights violations.
She was also a great family friend. My father had enormous respect for her, presenting her with the International Crisis Group's Fred Cuny Award in 2015. She served on Open Society's global board in the years that followed and helped found the European Council on Foreign Relations.
She was a champion of human rights and a feminist giant. And one of the bravest and toughest people I've ever known.
Today, Italy has lost one of its great consciences. My father and I have lost a dear friend.
Today I join others from across our game and call for Gianni Infantino to resign as FIFA President.
Infantino has debased the office that he promised to elevate. He has lied, deceived and tried to feather his own nest at the expense of the game he is supposed to serve.
He has lost the support of his senior staff, his closest advisers, the vast majority of people who devote their lives to this sport and even, it would seem, the FIFA Peace Prize winner.
It is too late to save his dignity but it is not too late to save football. He should go. Now.

Money managers have abandoned positioning for $200 oil ... does this now increase the risk of $200 oil?
-----
The CFTC was closed today, so the Commitment of Traders report for June 16 will be released on Monday.
But the Intercontinental Exchange released its data for London's Brent Crude Oil Contract for June 16 today.
Here is the net (long-short) for managed money (aka "money managers").
The chart starts on April 30, 2020 (beginning of the post-COVID recovery).
In the last four weeks, these managers went from a fairly long position (see the May 19 position in the bottom panel) to a fairly low net long position (June 16). Note that these managers are rarely net short (below zero).

the world needs the strait of hormuz reopened. should have happened months ago, but today’s outcome is the best option available.
having said that, iran war has been a disaster. no agreement on nukes, ballistic missiles, support for proxies…and one of the world’s most brutal regimes remains in place…and is getting paid off.
biggest foreign policy failure of trump administration by a long margin.
Inflation in the eurozone continues to rise and is not just driven by energy but also services.
Germany, at 2.7%, Malta, at 2.1%, and France, at 2.8% show the lowest inflation levels.

A speech deserving to be listened to
(English subtitles, his personal mood is easy to get 😁)
Calenda is a former Economical Development Secretary, and someone who spoke to Steve Barron exactly this way, in English, leaving him almost speechless
Un vivace confronto con il rappresentante di Meta che cercava di spiegare come l'Europa dovrebbe assomigliare agli Stati Uniti di Trump per essere un posto più giusto più democratico.
Not just a terrorist state, but a terrorist society masked with propaganda playing with your brain. And you are playing along.
You wimps and suckers, let that sink in.
Swaps given "to prevent disorderly sale of US assets." Translation: some holders can't sell. ICYDK: hidden single-digit % sale cap limits some institutional holders.
Door closes if things escalate. Get out while open.
Their frontline is the yield curve.

Honestly... huge respect here for the @Azzurri. ✊
"I would feel offended," Buonfiglio said. "You need to deserve to go to the World Cup."
Italy's Finance Minister Giancarlo Giorgetti called the idea "shameful."

This is proper etiquette:
the Iranian dude disputed Trump’s claims AFTER the futures closed.
Very polite, and in line with warfare rules during the Golden Age of Grift

Some of the Iran-linked oil / refined products tankers that attempted to cross the Strait of Hormuz have either stopped or performed U-turns.
The blockade, so far, appears effective. Remember, the vessels are not stopped in the middle of the strait, but on the approaches.
