@ThatAsianDude_ No ones arguing against the way Black ppl are discriminated against or the hierarchy of racism. Nor should we be going down the rabbit hole of oppression olympics. The point is racism lands differently for different groups, not recognising that specificity is erasure.

@ThatAsianDude_ There is a long colonial history of trying to invisibilise &amp; subordinate south Asian communities, further perpetuated through the model minority myth. I don’t know who the tik toker is but she’s clearly not aware of this terms deep history.

@ThatAsianDude_ All Racism is normalised in our society &amp; structures. But the particularities &amp; histories of how different communities are discriminated against varies. Racism towards South Asians as just banter is a normalised feature in the global North. Widely tolerated without challenge.
