Pretty tired of the "Buy this thing nobody asked for to (maybe) get the thing you want" approach from companies. What happened to just launching a new game?
@InvisibleMG87 Oh no, its actually concept art from the show. I think they made it before settling on the gag that she's so tall you never see her face.
@CommentSupplier@bbbrezenski@studleyman I was never here for the argument. Mostly cause if the arguerer sounds like they haven't even graduated high-school yet, its hard to take em seriously ๐
@SophiaNarwitz I have a theory that many are paid Sony employees. We know for a fact several companies, like Blizzard, did this kind of thing to deter backlash. I wouldn't put it past Sony.
If the God of War Laufey game was instead about Thor post Ragnarok finding his worthiness again to wield Mjolnir & coming to terms with his failure & issues with Odin & he fought other gods & eventually became the Thunder god again I would be throwing money at the screen.
And you would call it God of Thunder & its its own spin off & Thor is fighting the Tibetan gods & such, yeah that would be a day one for me
It kinda does matter cause youre trying to use it as an example against OP, yet its marketing was specifically crafted to create the illusion Joel was still a major part of the game.
It sold well purely because it was a highly anticipated sequel to a massive blockbuster game, and it wasn't upfront about what exactly it was.
And despite the game selling well, its impact on the series has been felt across the board. Season 2 of the show plummeted in ratings. The last of us 1 remake only sold 2 million copies, compared to the double digits other versions had sold. And Part 2 remaster didn't even sell enough to have its official sale count published. Thats how far off the series dropped. Part 2 was a short term win that has done severe harm in the long term.
