@StephenDuf59928@Mr_David_Butler@BrianSeagrave1 Even rule is black and white in the rule book until application/interpretation. You only have to look at David Clifford's tackle and Colm O'Callaghan's tackle later the same day. The CCCC can't re-referee all incidents
@StephenDuf59928@Mr_David_Butler@BrianSeagrave1 The officials saw both incidents and deemed GB's a red card offence which left the CCCC no option but to apply the ban imposed. The officials used a bit of common sense in Jim's situation, given the situation (Ryan McHugh's injury) they decided Burns card was the only red needed
@Mr_David_Butler@BrianSeagrave1 That would suggest all refs are the same and don't use their own discretion. I don't think anyone had an issue with GB getting a red card, the issue was the ban. GB's incident looked worse than Jim's so the ref decided to take action. Unfortunate but the reality
@TheSundayGame Embarrassing punditry here. Every rule is black and white on paper but doesn't mean every ref will implement said rules the same. Hurson and his team of officials didn't think Jim's actions warranted a red card and no one would have had the media not pushed this
@boomcity31@TomasORuanaidh@RTEsport Unfortunately for Ger, that was the problem. He got a red card and had Jim received one, he would have been banned too
Strange the Ger Brennan incident is constantly used as a reference point. They are not the same. GB received a red.
Donegal were not the aggressors on Saturday. Kerry have some power in the media.
This feels more like a witch-hunt and an onslaught.
@WestKerrylad I think Kerry and Donegal would be happy with a fine and move on. Neither will want certain incidents reviewed in detail without context.
@WestKerrylad My guess is the officials used a bit of common sense on the day. Saw Jim was annoyed by what happened to McHugh and decided to give him a pass. They would have sent him off otherwise
@WestKerrylad I think what a lot people are forgetting is that GB got a red card for his incident and it looked as if Jim got a telling off. When someone gets red carded then a suspension tends to follow. If Hurson has mentioned it in his report then all this talk has been premature
@EamonMcGee A huge difference in the Brennan incident and the Jim one is that Ger got a red card, so the ref saw his actions as a red card offence and therefore Ger was always gonna face a ban. Jim got a telling off at the start of the 2nd half and that seemed to be the ref dealing with it
@offtheball And there is a bit of hypocricy from here (Tommy included). They all felt Ger's treatment was harsh and now they're highlighting a nothing incident hoping for action to be take.
@offtheball 2 things on this. Firstly, no one would have been mentioned this had Ger Brennan's incident not happened and as much as GAA fans disagree with the length of Ger's ban, his incident was more noticeable on the day and he received a red card so the CCC had to act. They don't here
@Donglen2026@Jamesod7 Imagine if Murphy done that haha. The pitch forks would be out in full force. Not for Mr Clifford though.... national media don't want focus on that.. too busy going after the Ulster team as per usual 🙄
@EwanMacKenna@Derryman_01 It's no different than when a player stands offside for a free kick when a cross comes in but he doesn't become active until the 2nd phase. He doesn't become active until the 2nd phase of play and is onside then
@McClumsy84 Bournemouth were the best team throughout the 90 mins so I'm all ears to known what changes you would have made to change the pattern. Farke has had games were subs have felt late, this was definitely not one. The only fans criticising him post gone are those with an agenda
@McClumsy84 You know they scored again after the changes and were unlucky not to go 3-1 up? Had he made the subs earlier they could have lost by more. We can all be hypothetical
