A lot of us fear the UK will be forced to try this on its current trajectory.

The UK just does not have the pull that the US does. I paid US tax for 30 years as a UK resident dual national but, now a US resident, would give up my UK citizenship in a heartbeat if the UK tried it.

@Zigmanfreud I wouldn’t call them socialist but the premise here seems to be that anything that is government funded vs a market solution is socialist so, in that case, perhaps things like NASA, NOAA, the Manhattan Project, and US military.

There will be a gas station with some innovative pricing deal that makes people “love” their coffee, chains (Starbucks, Peet’s, etc), and incredible craft coffee shops/roasters.
